THAILAND
Phathed Thai : The Kingdom of Thailand, formerly known as Siam, is in Southeast Asia with the total area of 198,000 square miles (roughly the size of Texas). with a population of 60 million. About 10 million live in Bangkok which is the capital and largest city of Thailand. The country is bounded by Myanmar (formerly Burma), Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. The Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are on the southeast and southwest of Thailand respectively.
Thailand is divided into four regions : North, Central Plains, Northeast, South. Thailand has a humid, tropical climate, affected mainly by an annual monsoon winds that vary in direction according to the season. The average temperatures are ranging from about 75° to 92° F.
Because of its hospitality, Thailand is also known
as the land of smiles. Its official language is Thai. 95% of
Thai population are Buddhist. Thailand has absolute freedom of religion.
Although Buddhism is the prevailing religion of Thailand, Christianity,
Islam and Hinduism and others are also practiced and protected by Thai
constitution.
